Job Description

Courthouse Dogs Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit based in Bellevue, WA that works internationally to promote the use of certified facility dogs to accompany vulnerable individuals during stressful legal proceedings. These certified facility dogs are bred and trained by our partner agencies, service dog organizations that are accredited members of Assistance Dogs International. The agencies that utilize the facility dogs include child advocacy centers, prosecutor offices, law enforcement agencies, and sexual assault centers.

Our work is primarily consulting with and educating legal professionals through a wide range of in- person and remote workshops and includes an annual fall conference that is held in Bellevue. Details can be accessed on our website at www.courthousedogs.org.

Having been led by our two founders for the past decade, we are ready to move forward into a larger, more sustainable organization for the future, with the first step being the addition of an Interim CEO to work with our Board of Directors for approximately 6 months, building on an existing strategic plan.

Position

The Interim CEO will work closely with the two founders of Courthouse Dogs Foundation, in partnership with the Board of Directors; day-to-day work will be remote, but some meetings in Bellevue, WA, will be required. Goals to be accomplished over the six-month tenure of the position include:

• Create and begin to implement a fundraising plan to support the growth in our organization over the next 3 years.
• Improve our day-to-day business operations, including updating documentation for routine processes.
• Collaborate with the Board of Directors on a plan for board development.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage with funders.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
• Outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Demonstrated ability to manage the finances of a nonprofit organization.
• Technology fluency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Willingness to work with a variety of software platforms, including Salesforce, Constant Contact, and WordPress.

Compensation and hours

The Interim CEO will be a 1099 contract position for approximately 20 hours a week for January – June 2023. Hourly compensation will be negotiated with our Board of Directors but will be in the range of $50 to $75/ hour.
