Position Highlights The Translational Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix (COM-P) is seeking multiple highly motivated candidates for full-time positions as Postdoctoral Research Associates in Dr. Hongyu Qiu's laboratory. The lab focuses on cardiovascular disease research. The successful applicants will contribute towards research and research-related service in the area of translational cardiovascular research. The successful Postdoctoral applicants should be organized, detail oriented, productive and be able to work independently as well as with others. The Postdoctoral candidates will benefit from the interaction with the diverse and interdisciplinary environment at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct scientific research requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaption and modification of standard scientific techniques. Serve as principal investigator, as appropriate, on sub-projects of complexities consistent with above criteria.
  • Generate new ideas and projects for development.
  • Design, perform, and/or oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control, and protocol compliance.
  • Develop software tools, collect, analyze, and interpret data. 
  • Prepare statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs as appropriate to the specific position. 
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication. 
  • Develop and maintain detailed records of experiments, analyzing and writing findings.
  • Assist with preparation of grants and manuscripts.
  • Present research results to scientific conferences and other groups.  
  • Present manuscripts, oral presentations, posters, and research findings at national and international conferences.
  • Attend regular group meetings; manage, maintain, and order laboratory equipment and supplies; and respond to administrative request and procedures.
  • Share supervisory responsibility for research technical staff, including graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing analysis, statistics, and interpretation.
  • Skilled in grant writing and manuscript preparation.
  • Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings.
  • Knowledge of the biological sciences.
  • Ability to independently develop reports and manuscripts and present findings in tabular, oral, written, and graphic formats.
  • Proven track record of creativity and established track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in biology, chemistry, or related field is required.
