JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


Position available immediately for a Research Technologist 2 in the Makova Laboratory within the Department of Biology in The Eberly College of Science . Current projects in the laboratory include non-B DNA and sex chromosome evolution. The successful applicant will perform laboratory research under the supervision of postdoctoral researchers. Experiments will include the following techniques: maintaining cell culture, DNA isolation and sequencing using Next Generation approaches, among others. General lab maintenance, autoclaving, preparation of stock solutions, and data management will be required. Participation in lab meetings is expected. Must work effectively in a team setting, be able to communicate well, and keep clear records. Specific skills that are necessary also include data management using common software programs.

Education and Experience:

This position typically requires a bachelor’s degree or higher plus ideally at least four years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

The successful applicant must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work both semi-independently and collaboratively in a research team, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with team members and the PI.

Additional Information:

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of re-funding.
