Job Description


The Department of Microbial Infection and Immunity (https://medicine.osu.edu/mii/Pages/index.aspx ) in The Ohio State University, Wexner Medical Center, College of Medicine solicits applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at all levels conducting research in the human microbiome. Candidates should have an MD, MD/Ph.D. or Ph.D., postdoctoral experience, documented evidence of high-quality, impactful research, and a strong commitment to education and research at a major university. Preference for one position will be given to individuals with research programs focused on the interface between the microbiota and immunity. The second position will prioritize candidates who investigate polymicrobial interactions that regulate human health and diseases, and/or mechanisms of microbiota interactions that impact stable community dynamics.

Current strengths of the Department include innate and adaptive immunity, mucosal pathogens, biofilms, intracellular parasitism, and neuro-immunology. The Department has strong affiliations with several OSU Institutes and Centers (https://oaa.osu.edu/centers-and-institutes ). New faculty members will join an interdisciplinary community that includes the Infectious Disease Institute , the Center of Microbiome Science , and the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology , and will be located in the new Interdisciplinary Research Facility , scheduled to open in June, 2023. This facility is designed to maximize cross-disciplinary interactions in the new Innovation District on the main campus in Columbus, Ohio. Here, new faculty will enter an engaged community with laboratories active in the study of microbiome sciences. The Department has outstanding facilities and support, including a vibrant collaborative research community, an open laboratory environment that promotes interactions, and state-of-the-art core facilities.
