Summary

The Stamps School of Art & Design invites applications for a Lecturer I position for the Fall 2021 semester (August 30 – December 31, 2021) to teach the following 3-credit studio courses:

ARTDES 105: Drawing: Visualization

Days/Times:
Sec. 008 - Mondays & Wednesdays 5:30p-7:45p | Modality - In-Person

The second of two foundation studio drawing courses, Drawing: Visualization builds on students’ previous experience in observational drawing and related foundation studio courses to focus on drawing as an effective means of visualization, conceptualization, and communication to others. Considering drawing not only as a means to record the visible world, Drawing: Visualization addresses this subject as a critical component in the process of designing, conceiving, and communicating ideas that will likely and ultimately be manifested in another form (e.g. the fabrication of products, installation of exhibit spaces). Students explore a variety of tools, techniques, and pictorial conventions to realize these goals.

Classes begin January 4, 2023.

Desired Qualifications*

  • Master's degree in art, design, or comparable field.
  • Minimum 1 year college-level teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and oversee students in understanding and using drawing as a means of visualization, conceptualization, and communication through using traditional and digital drawing methods of construction to depict existing and imagined objects while using various drawing systems to transcribe information into graphic representation with an examination of the relationship between the drawing systems and modes of communication.
  • Record of active creative work, scholarship, research and/or industry or other relevant professional engagement.
  • Ability to assess student work in a timely and effective manner.
