Summary

The Department of Computational Medicine & Bioinformatics (DCMB) at the University of Michigan Medical School seeks outstanding applicants for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions. DCMB provides a vibrant environment for research and education, and has a strong tradition of multidisciplinary collaboration. DCMB has 17 Primary, 28 Joint, and >100 Affiliate faculty in its Center for Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics (CCMB). DCMB hosts NIGMS Biomedical Informatics and Data Science and NCI Proteome Informatics pre-doctoral T32 training grants, and is currently home to >90 PhD and >100 Master students, with >100 PhD alumni. Our department is growing rapidly, with ~15-fold increase in NIH funding during the past 10 years, and continues to build a diverse and inclusive community of faculty, staff, and students. 

We are currently recruiting both junior and mid-career faculty members to establish independent research programs that address emerging challenges in translational bioinformatics and biomedical data science. Innovative research may be in any area of bioinformatics, computational biology, data science methodology, with applications to biomedical, clinical, or public health research. Candidates with a focus on quantitative aspects of health disparities research are strongly encouraged to apply.

Joint appointments may be considered with the Michigan Institute for Data Science, Life Sciences Institute, Michigan Neuroscience Institute, basic science departments including Learning Health Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and partnering clinical and public health departments. DCMB seeks to enhance transdisciplinary collaborations across campus and is supported by the Precision Health and Biosciences Initiatives. Opportunities exist for faculty leadership roles in community outreach and improving the climate and well-being within DCMB.

Required Qualifications*

Successful candidates will have a PhD or MD/PhD degree in bioinformatics, biomedical or health informatics, computer science, biostatistics, or a related field.

Background Screening
