Operating Title
Assistant Professor of Cognition
Campus Location
Durham
Department
UNH COLA Psychology
Summary of Position
The Department of Psychology at the University of New Hampshire invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the fall, of 2023 with a focus on human cognition broadly defined (e.g., psycholinguistics, cognitive neuroscience, perception, decision-making). The College of Liberal Arts is deeply committed to being an inclusive community in which people of diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives are respected and celebrated in our curriculum, our scholarship and artistry, and in our everyday practices and interactions.
The area of expertise within human cognition is open; however, we are particularly interested in faculty members who will enhance competitiveness for extramural funding through collaborations by taking an interdisciplinary approach that bridges psychology and another discipline, such as computer science, philosophy, neuroscience, biology, or education. We are particularly interested in those with a strong quantitative/mathematical background.
Applicants’ research interests should complement the current faculty in Psychology. History of or strong potential for external funding is desirable. Requirements: Ph.D. in psychology or a related field and a strong record of research and teaching. The successful applicant will teach courses in their area of specialization, and a course in Introductory Psychology, Introductory or Advanced/Graduate Statistics, or Research Methods; supervise doctoral and undergraduate student research, and advise undergraduate and doctoral students. Our standard teaching load is two courses per semester. Applicants should show a commitment to sustaining and advancing the goals of the institution’s diversity of students, faculty, and staff.
