Overview
The Center for Functional Cancer Epigenetics (CFCE) is dedicated to the exploration of the key role that epigenetic alterations and abnormal transcriptional regulation play in the development an progression of cancer. A better understanding of these alterations will lead to better diagnosis for cancer and contributions to the knowledge required for the development of new therapeutics exploiting epigenetic mechanisms. The Center’s organization and leadership represents a very tight coupling between wet-lab and informatics efforts that provides an unprecedented opportunity to advance the field.

Responsibilities
We are offering a leadership position for a very motivated candidate who will guide our wet-lab experiments and manage a wide variety of collaborations. The candidate will lead a group consisting of wet-lab scientists working together to study cancer using genome-wide approaches at both the bulk and single cell level. These experiments are undertaken as part of collaborations both internal and external to the CFCE. Job responsibilities include managing a group of research associates and scientists, mentoring students/interns, and optimizing new epigenetic protocols, particularly for clinical samples. In addition to these activities, the role will be actively involved in communicating with collaborators, designing experiments, performing data analysis, and writing scientific manuscripts.

-PhD. degree or equivalent experience in biology or a related field
-5+ years hands on experience in relevant laboratory techniques
-Solid understanding of molecular biology, cancer biology, genetics and epigenetics
-Excellent organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
-Must effectively solve problems with minimal supervision
-Should enjoy working both independently and as part of a team
