JOB SUMMARY

Cancer deaths in Africa are projected to double in the next fifteen years. Access to treatment in the region is low which leads to unnecessary suffering and death. The American Cancer Society’s Global Cancer Treatment program works to improve access to cancer treatment in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In this work, The American Cancer Society works closely with our partners in African health ministries and cancer centers, as well as the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN). The Program Manager also works closely with other members of a small headquarters team and program staff based in our partner countries.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the ACS contribution for the NCCN Harmonized Guidelines for Sub-Saharan Africa, including coordination of African Cancer Coalition meetings and webinars.
  • Work closely with partners in African health ministries and cancer treatment centers to develop and implement technical collaborations through the African Cancer Coalition to improve access to high quality cancer treatment.
  • Oversee tracking and documentation of grant-based projects in Africa.
  • Collaborate with African health ministries to facilitate uptake and implementation of updated treatment guidelines.
  • Monitor and document progress against project objectives, adjusting implementation as needed.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

  • Participate in the development of technical resources such as facility assessments, handbooks, guidelines, tracking tools, and training programs.
  • Contribute, as needed, to other projects focused on improving access to cancer treatment.
