What we want
The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to serve as a team member in the Center for Epigenetics and Disease Prevention. We desire an individual who subscribes to and supports our commitment as stated above. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will be involved in analyzing high-throughput data in complex diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases. The scientist will perform analysis as outlined and will be responsible for driving the funded work. The successful applicant will bring their experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. Required Education:
  • Appropriate PhD

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to perform all tasks and job responsibilities safety without injury to self and others, in compliance with Texas A&M System and TAMHSC guidelines
  • Must be literate in the English language and be able to comprehend and follow effectively both written and verbal instructions
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills in English
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • PhD in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field
  • Experience in analyzing high-throughput omic data in complex diseases with strong skills in at least one programming language (Perl, Python, Java, C/C++, or R)
  • Knowledgeable in Genetics, Cancer Biology, immunology/immunotherapy with strong interests to develop computational skills
  • Experience working with diverse individuals and communities
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to do independent translational research in an area related to computational biology
  • Possess high motivation for research
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct studies utilizing high-throughput technologies to analyze data in complex diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular diseases.
  • Prepare data and perform computational analysis to obtain original research results. Analyze high-throughput data and multi-omics data, such as RNA-seq, DNA-seq, ChiP-seq, and drug response data, etc.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings within the center and with other internal and external departments. Participate in joint projects involving faculty, postdoctoral fellows, students and technicians. Provide assistance to graduate students and junior lab personnel.
  • Assist with research grant proposals and provide publishable reports for conference and journal presentations. Conduct library research into new approaches, prepare tables, graphs, photographs and figures, and assist in manuscripts and grant proposals, with the highest ethical standards and levels of rigor and reproducibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
