JOB SUMMARY

The University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy invites qualified candidates to apply for a full-time, two-year post-graduate Fellows, renewed annually, in Pediatric Infectious Diseases Pharmacy with an anticipated start date of summer, 2023.

Primary training will be through Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, CT with additional responsibilities at the UConn School of Pharmacy.  Connecticut Children’s is a nationally recognized children’s hospital and is the only free-standing pediatric hospital in the state. Its Antimicrobial Stewardship Program has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by the Infectious Diseases Society of America. The University of Connecticut is the state’s flagship institution of higher education and includes the main campus in Storrs, CT, four regional campuses throughout the state, and 13 Schools and Colleges. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This training program will provide the pharmacist fellow with experiences to help them understand the clinical practice of antimicrobial stewardship within the pediatric population, while also providing experiences to develop their research skills. Specifically, the fellow will learn how to generate research questions, write protocols, collect and analyze data, and come to reasonable conclusions. The fellow will have multiple opportunities to develop writing skills from their research. Experiences in writing review articles will also be provided. The fellow will also gain experience in pediatric didactic and experiential teaching activities and have the opportunity to complete a teaching certificate program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy
  • Licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Connecticut (a temporary pharmacist license is allowed for up to 2 months after beginning the program)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a PGY1 accredited residency program (or equivalent experience)
  • Significant pediatric and infectious diseases clinical experiences

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a 2-year, full-time appointment, renewed annually, with an anticipated start date of June or July 2023. The successful candidate’s work locations will include Connecticut Children’s in Hartford, CT, some travel to Storrs, CT, and telework within the State of Connecticut. The salary for this position is $54,840 and includes full benefits.

The successful candidate's employment is also contingent upon completion of Connecticut Children’s requirements for trainees, including receipt of routine vaccinations for COVID-19 and annual influenza.
