Program and Ticket Office Assistant

Job Description

PROGRAM AND TICKET OFFICE ASSISTANT, Institute Affairs, to operate the MIT Activities Committe (MITAC) ticket office on MIT’s Cambridge campus, Lincoln Laboratory, and online.  MITAC delivers cultural and recreational activities to the MIT community. Will provide exemplary online and in-person customer service, oversee ticket inventory and ensure accuracy, and perform vendor negotiations and partnerships; work with the team to maintain website and digital communications, develop programming, and contribute to MITAC’s long-view strategy and expanded services; process online orders, reconcile vendor and customer purchases, process financial transactions, and conduct inventory audit; anticipate and resolve technical issues with inventory system, credit card terminal, and customer transactions; serve as thought partner for new inventory system and website; be responsible for sensitive personnel data; and provide support for Institute events.  

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years’ combined experience in retail, customer service, business operations, and vendor relations; excellent customer service, organizational, financial, technical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills; ability to prioritize tasks, work independently and as part of a team, and demonstrate good judgment; support for inclusive practices; proficiency with inventory and financial systems, online and point-of-sale systems, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new technologies and processes; and facility with on-screen operations.  PREFERRED:  bachelor’s degree; program development experience; Drupal, MailChimp (or comparable), CyberSource (or comparable), SAP, and FileMaker experience; experience with PCI DSS compliance; MIT experience; and awareness of local performing arts and recreation.  Job #22066-5

This is a full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) position.

Most work is performed onsite on the MIT campus or at Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington, MA.

U.S. citizenship and a security clearance (after onboarding) are required to work at Lincoln Laboratory.
