Full Job Description

Provide innovative and fiscally responsive educational leadership to ensure quality academic programs that meet workforce needs. Facilitate the seamless transfer of students from non-credit Career Pathway Certificates and credit high school pathways into NICC credit programming. Facilitate the transfer of NICC credit program students into business, industry, and transfer post-secondary institutions. Ensure comprehensive and effective student support services to facilitate student enrollment, retention, completion and placement. Assume responsibility for day-to-day operations and evaluation of the staff, faculty and programs within the department.
 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position.
 
1. Promote and maintain sustainable and responsive educational programming to meet workforce needs.
 
2. Develop career technical program maps that include common core curriculum and meta majors to illustrate pathways and opportunities for adult, high school and under-represented students.
 
3. Develop and implement comprehensive district-wide programming that incorporates authentic, work based learning.

4. Develop curriculum for non-credit and credit programs in areas of supervision.
 
5. Develop and implement competency based programming in innovative and flexible formats.
 
6. Support the development of Department of Labor “DOL” approved and non-DOL apprenticeships.
 
7. Ensure programs are effective in the measurement of student learning outcomes.
 
8. Ensure programs are delivered in accordance with College, state and federal accreditation standards.
 
9. Foster and support College relationships with business and industry partners to strengthen business and industry partners.
 
10. Promote student engagement with an emphasis on student retention and completion.
 
11. Review annual and comprehensive key program indicators. Work with faculty to establish action plans in response to indicators that are below a satisfactory level.
 
12. Ensure programming is consistent among adjunct, high school, and full-time faculty regardless of the method of delivery and meets the identified student learning outcomes.
 
13. Ensure program and department initiatives align with College strategic plan and are met according to established benchmarks and goals.
 
14. Observe, supervise, and evaluate classroom performance of assigned faculty and staff. Recommend the selection, retention, and dismissal of assigned faculty and staff members.
 
15. Promote and support faculty and staff development and leadership. Collaborate with High School Partnerships to organize annual professional development activities for concurrent career and technical faculty district-wide.
 
16. Maintain an “open-door” for students, faculty, and staff. Review and mediate conduct issues and facilitate referrals for further investigation. Resolve grievances according to established procedures.
 
17. Provide oversight for operational budgets for areas of supervision.
 
18. Maintain program, course and curriculum files to ensure uniformity and compliance in all publications.
 
19. Participate on college-wide planning and policy committees.
 
20. Actively participate in NICC’s Standard Pathway initiatives and reporting.
 
21. Complete other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Learning and Student Success.
 
 
 
Qualifications
 
1. Experience: Current and relevant experience in advanced manufacturing or industrial technology required with related business or industry experience preferred. Ability to anticipate industry needs and ensure the flexible and relevant delivery of education in the following areas: Industrial Maintenance, Computerized Numerical Controls, HVAC, Diesel, Automotive, Gas Utilities, Engineering, Construction and Computer Technology.
 
2. Education: A minimum of an Associated Degree required; Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
 
3. Certification and Approval: Ability to be credentialed via the NICC Quality Faculty Plan in the career-technical area in which employed. Ability to be credentialed with an evaluator’s credential for teaching, and/or supervising a vocational-technical area.
 
4. Demonstrated innovative and dynamic leadership style; strong communication skills; ethical, honest and objective.
 
5. Experience with and aptitude for working with representatives from business, industry, education and other agencies in the identification of vocational and general education programming to meet the needs of the department and the college.
 
6. Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and manage staff.
 
7. Ability to assimilate data and to organize presentations for individuals and groups.
 
8. Skilled in long range planning.
 
9. Committed to excellence in teaching and learning.
 
10. Commitment and willingness to participate fully in quality improvement at the personal, departmental, and institutional levels.
