The Opportunity

The Division of Kinesiology within the School of Kinesiology and Physical Therapy (SKPT) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is pleased to invite applications for a lecturer with a general focus on kinesiology. This will be a non-tenure earning, 9-month appointment with a projected start date of August 2023.

The Division of Kinesiology, is housed within the College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS). CHPS is a core component of the newly established UCF Academic Health Sciences Center and the College of Medicine, College of Nursing, UCF Health, and UCF Student Health.

The Division of Kinesiology includes undergraduate (B.S.) and graduate (M.S. and Ph.D.) degree programs and plans to develop a graduate-level clinical exercise physiology track.  The SKPT also includes the Division of Physical Therapy which offers a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree that is accredited by CAPTE, a Graduate Certificate in Anatomical Sciences, a Neurological Residency Program, and faculty practice, and the Division of Athletic Training, which offers an M.S. in Athletic Training. The research infrastructure of SKPT is led through the Institute of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Science, which spans over 16,000 sq. ft of facilities and includes numerous essential, applied clinical and community research laboratories (https://healthprofessions.ucf.edu/kpt/institute/ ). SKPT also has an existing clinical partnership with outside healthcare agencies and clinical relationships with UCF Student Health Services, UCF Athletics, and UCF Sports Science.

The UCF Division of Kinesiology has around 1900 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The bachelor’s program has two tracks, Exercise and Sport Physiology and Strength and Conditioning. The Master of Science in Kinesiology offers a non-thesis track, and a thesis track which prepares students with the education and experience to pursue a career in exercise physiology, sport science, strength, and conditioning or to pursue a doctoral degree in a related field. The Kinesiology Ph.D. program aims to develop the next generation of teacher-scholars and professional leaders to advance the broad discipline of kinesiology by exploring human movement, applied physiology, sports performance, sports medicine, and clinical rehabilitation. Minimum Qualifications

  • An earned a doctorate in Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Health Science, Rehabilitation Science, or a related field from an accredited institution prior to the projected start date.

  • Have NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and/or ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist (ACSM-EP) credentials at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching university-level coursework related to kinesiology.

  • Additional industry-relevant professional certifications.
