Job Summary
A postdoctoral associate is sought with experience in optogenetics and/or electrophysiological recordings in freely moving rodents. This postdoc will join the Thorn and McIntyre labs to explore brain substrates of memory and the extinction of conditioned fear.
Minimum Education and Experience

A minimum of a PhD in a field directly related to research and a minimum of two years of experience/expertise as noted below; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Education and Experience
Applicants must have a PhD or MD degree.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The NIH-funded postdoctoral associate will carry out research investigating the mechanisms by which vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) enhances extinction of conditioned fear in rodents. This is a unique opportunity to do translational research and merge technologies across two labs: Dr. Catherine Thorn’s lab uses multisite recordings in behaving animals to study neural firing patterns and synchrony across brain regions and Dr. Christa McIntyre’s lab uses optogenetic approaches to investigate the circuitry involved in memory and extinction of conditioned fear.

As a member of the Department of Neuroscience at UT Dallas, affiliations are possible with the Texas Biomedical Device Center, the Center for Advanced Pain Studies, The Callier Center for Communication Disorders, The Center for Vital Longevity, and The Center for Brain Health.
Vaccine Requirements:
Some positions within the University are subject to federal vaccination requirements.
