Position Summary

We seek applicants whose research interests and data analysis and writing skills will contribute to the aims of the project and dissemination of results. In this project, we are assessing young children (3-4 years) and their mothers who were part of a randomized clinical trial of Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) provided to pregnant women with elevated levels of depressive symptoms. The study will examine the primary aims of whether reducing depression during pregnancy can affect child cardiovascular health and health behaviors. Project aims of the original trial focus on NIMH RDoC constructs including negative valence systems and cognitive control, with multiple methods and measures to assess these constructs across units of analysis, including MRI, eye tracking, EEG, behavioral observation, and physiology, in infants. In the new R01, outcomes will focus on child obesity and cardiovascular risk (e.g., blood pressure, body fat, arterial stiffness), child diet, maternal feeding behaviors, child eating behaviors, and child sleep and physical activity. This position will provide multiple opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and publication. The postdoctoral fellow will have opportunities to analyze data, write papers and grants, obtain mentoring from faculty, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students to advance their research program.
