About the Department
Job Summary
This at-will position is wholly funded by contractual grant funding, which is renewed under provisions set by the grantor of the contract. Employment will be contingent upon the continued receipt of these grant funds and satisfactory job performance.
Responsibilities
Serves as the divisional/institutional representative and operational lead of the organization.
Partners with the ITM for developing Sociome and other informatics initiatives with the Biological Sciences, Social Sciences and Physical Sciences Divisions.
Develops data commons partnerships and projects with researchers and departments including but not limited to the Comprehensive Cancer Center, Kovler Diabetes Center, Neurology, and Gastroenterology.
Develops collaborative strategies to identify effective growth, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.
Leads resource deployment.
Provides high-level project management support for Lab initiatives, including hiring and recruitment, strategic planning, timeline and milestone development, tracking of deliverables, and recommends necessary communications, resource allocation, and approvals.
Oversees resources to track planning, prioritization, and implementation of portfolio and strategic initiatives.
Oversees the development of brand identity, communications strategy, presentations, and special events.
Develops opportunities for formal and experiential learning across the training pipeline, including undergraduate, doctoral and postdoctoral fellows.
With the faculty director, represents Data for the Common Good, structuring frameworks for new partnership development.
Provides leadership for and oversees all financial, purchasing, grant, facilities, human resources and support services management activities for the unit.
Acts as liaison to academic departments, professional organizations, and administrative units of the University.
Establishes department priorities, may be responsible for the management of the center budget, allocates resources, and executes strategic plans.
Provides strategic leadership for a Center with senior management and serves as a liaison to academic departments, professional organizations and administrative units of the University.
Works closely with faculty, students and other leaders across campus to foster experimentation and multi-disciplinary inquiry and teaching by coordinating and developing Center programming. This may include workshops. Conferences, colloquia, training programs, community outreach, etc.
Manages multiple related teams. Establishes department priorities, is responsible for the management of the center budget, allocates resources and executes strategic plans.
Oversees a communication strategy and marketing efforts aimed at increasing the visibility of the Center. Collaborates with others to make the center a valuable resource to all students and contributes to the broad goals of creating a stronger campus community.
Performs other related work as needed.

Education:
MPP, MPH, MS or MA in a related field.
Experience:
Seven+ years of progressively responsible relevant professional experience in management, financial planning, and administration.
Seven+ years of professional work experience, with significant experience in health care research working with a diverse set of stakeholders.
Seven+ years of people management experience, including building teams of direct and indirect reports with significant technical and leadership skills as well as overall center management.
Progressively responsible talent management experience in coaching, communication, recruiting, hiring, and performance management.
Directly related financial and budget development experience in a complex environment.
Experience with Financial Management Systems.
Significant experience within an academic health sciences environment.
Knowledge of research funding and appreciation for working in a research-intensive academic culture.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate across a broad range of stakeholders, including technical information in a way that can be understood with varying levels of technical background.
Highly organized with excellent project management skills and the ability to anticipate needs before they arise.

Working knowledge in complex partnerships including between research, nonprofits, business, funding agencies, and governments.
Oversee budgets and financial reporting.
Fundraising from individuals, institutional and governmental funders, and philanthropic foundations.
Running an organization, or significant business unit within an organization.
Interacting with a variety of other major institutions relevant to health care research infrastructure.
