Job Summary
Position Description

The Department of Psychology in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences (BBS) at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is accepting applications for a tenure system position at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. We invite applicants with strong programs of research, with funding or strong potential for funding.
Preference will be given to researchers pursuing innovative research in computational modeling relevant to the advancement of knowledge in cognitive science, defined broadly to include affective, social, perceptual, neural, and cognitive representations/processes. Computational approaches may include, but are not limited to: Bayesian modeling, deep neural networks, probabilistic graphical modeling, reinforcement learning, computational psychometrics, graph theory, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.
Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level courses in cognitive science, computational modeling, and/or advanced statistics courses, as well as mentoring of doctoral, master’s-level, and undergraduate students.
Qualifications

Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent and demonstrate their commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and service, which includes a strong commitment to principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. All candidates are expected to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals of diverse backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. The appointment commences August 1, 2023. A doctoral degree is required. Postdoctoral training is desirable.
The Department/School

The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) is a Carnegie Tier 1 (R1) research university that is one of the fastest growing institutions in the US (#2 last year), and until our 50th anniversary last year, was ranked by Times Higher Education as the top US university under the age of 50. Faculty in BBS are based on the main campus, and at three research centers located in central Dallas near the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW), with which there are strong collaborative relationships.
The UT Dallas BrainHealth Imaging Center houses two Siemens Magnetom Prisma 3T MRI scanners, which are used by many BBS investigators. UTSW houses the Advanced Imaging Research Center (AIRC), an inter-institutional facility that provides more advanced neuroimaging resources, including very high field MRI (7T), MEG, and PET. Core facilities include EEG, TMS, tDCS, eye trackers, and other physiological measurement devices.
The Department of Psychology includes faculty affiliated with the Center for Children and Families, the Center for Vital Longevity, and the Center for BrainHealth. The department is home to doctoral programs in Psychology and Cognition and Neuroscience, master’s programs in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience, Psychology, and Human Development and Early Childhood Disorders, and bachelor’s programs in Psychology, Cognitive Science, and Child Learning and Development.

Minimum Education and Experience

An earned graduate degree appropriate to the academic discipline and a record of productivity and professional achievement.

Preferred Education and Experience
Successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Clinical Psychology, Computational Neuroscience, or Computational Cognition with evidence of scholarly contributions and ability to compete for extramural support in the field of cognitive science.
Excellent, innovative researcher whose research program would synergize with current faculty, who could successfully teach needed coursework, and whose expertise would support innovation related to core goals in psychology (including expanding cognitive science offerings). Funded or high potential for funding preferred.
