Overview
The Rutgers Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors 24 intercollegiate sports, comprised of 14 women’s and 10 men’s programs, that compete at the Division I level. The Scarlet Knights are members of the prestigious Big Ten Conference, the nation’s premier academic and athletic conference, after officially joining the league on July 1, 2014. Known as “The Birthplace of College Football, Rutgers hosted Princeton on Nov. 6, 1869 in the first intercollegiate football game, with RU earning a 6-4 victory.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Coordinator II for Rutgers Athletics. This position will oversee, coordinate, and manage all marketing, fan experience, digital and traditional advertising, merchandise strategies, and promotional efforts for Rutgers Athletics for assigned sports. This position will also work on annual Football marketing and fan experience initiatives/events with oversight of game/event timeline, student interns, student groups and game week preparation.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Serves as the independent marketing contact for various Olympic sports with complete oversight of the planning and promotional efforts, fan experience, scripting, and game day staffing impacting the attendance and atmosphere.
  • Collaboratively develops and executes an external marketing and communications plan while leading the efforts with Communications, R Vision, and Brand Advancement.
  • Executes annual Football marketing initiatives and events.
  • Creates attendance driving activities for our home events utilizing our football synergy team, social media pages, website, marketing tools, student interns and student groups.
  • Works with R-Vision and Sports Properties to assist with the weekly game week production run-thru.
  • Management of in-game timeline components, student interns and spirit groups to continue to develop an elite game day presentation for our team and fans.
  • Coordinates and executes special marketing events on behalf of the Athletic Department.
  • Provides assistance with maintaining the organization of the marketing storage closets, assists with spirit program mascot appearance requests, assists with donation requests and serves as the main point person for distributing and responding emails from the main marketing email account.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in sports administration, marketing or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates knowledge and understanding of sports marketing/event management field.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be able to make decisions independently.
  • Must possess written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate.
Preferred Qualifications
Equipment Utilized
  • Position must be computer literate and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, with basic knowledge of Photoshop and/or other graphics.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Lifting of boxes at times.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends.
  • Clean driving record.
