*This is a temporary position expected to end after 18 months after hire date.

Summary of Duties:

This position will be working in our postdoctoral research training program in disability policy. This grant-funded role may have an option for remote/hybrid work.

The primary goal of this fellowship program is to provide a highly personalized 18-month research training experience to scholars who hold doctorates or similar advanced degrees and are personally committed to understanding and improving health policies and services for all Americans with disabilities. Fellows will participate in research activities from grant proposals to research articles, and will have the opportunity to further their professional training by attending courses at Washington State University, including the Certificate in Medical Ethics.

The fellowship will extend the work of the Collaborative on Health Reform and Independent Living (CHRIL), a multisite Disability and Rehabilitation Research Project funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research (NIDILRR).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Meeting weekly with the CHRIL-F principal investigator or co-investigator.
  • Developing a five-year research plan and academic CV.
  • Attending a grant-writing workshop.
  • Completing and submitting at least one grant proposal.
  • Conducting collaborative and independent research on disability and health policy (including research design, statistical analysis, and preparing journal articles).
  • Co-authoring and presenting research at professional and scientific conferences.
  • Publishing project results in peer-reviewed, scientific journals.

Required Qualifications:

  • An earned PhD or other terminal degree in an appropriate field (e.g., MD, DPT, OD, JD, DNP, DSW, DPH, PsyD) in the past 5 years.
  • Strong academic writing skills.
  • Graduate research training.
  • Critical thinking, communication skills, interest in disability policy research, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,000.00 per year
