Summary of Position

This position provides senior technical leadership and support for administrative information systems and services within the ET&S Business Applications portfolio, ensuring solutions and services are responsive to current and future USNH business needs and technical challenges and achieve objectives of high availability, scalability, usability, supportability, resource effectiveness and ease of maintenance. This position is a member of the ET&S Business Applications Administrative team, collaborates closely with peers, business, and technical partners, and assists other team members to develop and maintain their skill sets.

Bachelor’s degree and six years of experience in information technology field, Master’s and four years, or combination of education and experience equal to ten years.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong customer service and support skills, verbal and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills to work productively in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Experience with large scale, enterprise application implementation, integration, maintenance and support.
  • Strong Oracle pl/sql programming and web application development skills.
  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies such as Microsoft Project and PMBOK.
  • Experience with process improvement and technology management practices such as Lean process improvement, ITIL and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with any of the following technologies: GIT, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, SOAP and REST-based APIs
  • Knowledge of information security best practices
  • Experience working within a higher education IT environment

Duty/Responsibility

Design/Build Solutions – Serving as lead developer, design and build advanced enterprise application solutions which address strategic business and technology needs, optimizing the use of vendor-provided applications, services, technologies and locally developed solutions. Maintain and apply an advanced application development and integration skill set; acquire new technical skills quickly. Mentor teammates in acquiring and applying business application design/development skills. Lead and/or participate in peer review for solutions designed or developed by other team members. Stay abreast of emerging and evolving technologies, languages, standards and practices. Make recommendations to most efficiently and securely respond to evolving, strategic business needs and technical challenges.

Duty/Responsibility

Release Analysis – Maintain and apply deep, broad knowledge of vendor-provided and locally developed business application software, associated technologies, services and their deployments to analyze new releases and patches of vendor software, technologies and other proposed changes. Identify the impact of releases and changes on business applications and services, determining necessary and recommended actions to ensure application and service continuity and high availability. Serve in advisory or consulting capacity to others during the release analysis process.

Requirements Gathering and Analysis – Collaborating with business and technical partners, lead the analysis of complex business, functional and technical needs and challenges. Propose options for solutions; make recommendations on how applications, services and technologies can be leveraged to meet needs. Provide time and resource estimates and cost/benefit analyses for decision-making.

Operational and Customer Support – Maintain high availability of business applications and services by facilitating the analysis, diagnosis and resolution process for high profile and complex issues. Provide technical support to Functional IT leaders, technical and business partners, and end users. Engage vendors as required and ensure all communications are appropriate for the target audience.
