If so, we're looking for someone like you to join the System Performance Analysis Group, KBS, a talented team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts.

We are seeking a senior statistician to leverage their computational and analytical skills supporting multi-disciplinary teams to implement innovative analysis and assessment approaches for many defense and national security applications.  You will lead the statistical analysis of data and conduct the design and execution of experiments as needed, leveraging a variety of statistical modeling approaches available.  You will be joining our diverse team of hardworking engineers, software developers, data scientists, and analysts committed to advancing the state of the art in performance evaluation of the nation’s strategic weapons systems throughout their lifecycle. As a senior statistician in the statistical sciences section, you will…

  • Work with statisticians, engineers, and scientists to characterize research questions, develop test plans to collect data, and conduct appropriate statistical analyses to address research questions.
  • Design, test, implement, and document statistical computer programs in statistical software packages, including Python, R, or SAS, for data preparation and analysis tasks.
  • Plan and execute computer and physical experiments to evaluate the performance of complex systems.
  • Provide detailed documentation on methodology, analysis, and visualizations related to research questions of interest.
  • Participate and, in some cases, lead team meetings to contribute to the development and review of test and analysis plans.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you…

  • Have a Master’s Degree in statistics or a closely related field with at least five years of experience performing statistical analysis.
  • Have experience with a variety of statistical methods such as linear and non-linear regression modeling, multivariate analyses, and categorical data analysis.
  • Have experience using statistical programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS to perform data preparation, computational statistics, and simulations.
  • Prioritize work and manage time to complete multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Possess the ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, analytic results to study team and internal management.
  • The willingness to work in cross-departmental teams and learn details of the application to ensure the statistical analysis being developed as appropriate.
  • Are able to obtain Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. You go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you have…

  • A PhD in statistics or a closely related field with at least five years of experience performing statistical analysis.
  • Have experience with advanced statistical modeling techniques such as mixed and non-linear mixed models, Gaussian process regression.
  • Experience as a principal investigator on a project and leading a team on a technical task.
  • Experience assisting scientists and engineers in the design and analysis of experiments for physical and computer experiments.
