Program Director, Global Engagement ProgramsJob Description
Director of Global Engagement Programs provides leadership for the Global Engagement Programs and is a member of Notre Dame International responsible for the University’s internationalization effort and outreach. This position is responsible for implementing the strategy and operations plan of the University’s goal to diversify university’s international student population and increase the University’s recognition across the globe through short-term programs.
The Global Engagement Programs Director’s position requires the ability to work collaboratively with Notre Dame International, with its global gateways and international partners, Notre Dame faculty and other departments to successfully oversee short term programs for incoming international high school and undergraduate students, visiting international professionals, and all incoming international undergraduate exchange and American Semester Abroad Program (ASAP) students on campus and for a semester or a year as non-degree seeking students.
The Global Engagement Programs Director reports directly to the Senior Director of Global Education and works closely with other members within Notre Dame International.
Specific duties:
- Teach a zero-credit seminar course on intercultural communication to incoming exchange and ASAP students and help with advising these students on academic and other issues
- Teach a summer leadership seminar for short term programs
- Provide leadership and guidance to short-term programs and help grow the programs and increase enrollment
- Oversee all programmatic aspects of the short-term programs, including applications, budget, logistics, recruitment, curriculum and itinerary design
- Develop new programs as needed, particularly with respect to visiting international professionals and with Notre Dame’s global partners
- Supervise and work with American Short-term Programs staff and student workers and coordinate the program staffing needs to ensure proper support and coverage
- Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, our global gateways and centers as well as Notre Dame’ global partners to broaden Notre Dame’s global outreach
- Market programs and recruit students from around the world
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Higher Education or closely related field
- At least 5 years of experience in higher education
- Supervisory experience and ability to work well in a team and with a variety of constituencies (students, faculty, parents, staff)
- Significant working experience with international students
- Strong organizational, project management, administrative, and computer skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to positively engage people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds
- Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines
- Experience in marketing and recruitment
