Job Summary

The applicant of this position will be responsible to ensure playground safety and transitions from classroom to playground, and playground to classroom. This person will be responsible to assist teachers in monitoring the safety of the children, and assist helping the classes in and out of the building. Specifically this individual will assure 100% accuracy that if 12 students entered the playground, 12 students leave when recess is over. When classrooms are not in need of this assistance this staff member will rotate between classrooms to support teachers who finger paint, sing, dance, get paid to play with play dough while teaching children. Our staff make a difference in the world, and have fun by providing children ages 8 and under with excellent child care and appropriate guided learning experiences. This position is for South City Campus.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

In addition to complying with the child care licensing rules, applicants must follow the standards of our accreditation body. Each teacher gets to monitor the classroom while singing and playing, attend engaging monthly meetings, and take education classes that correlate with accreditation standards. Training is paid.

All staff are responsible for the direct supervision of children in their care. They must be able to work with diverse populations and communicate with parents daily. Keeping the playground clean will be necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Energetic and loving Fun and flexible Coursework in FHS classes, or classes from the Children’s Service Society Experience working with groups of children and babies.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age, unless there has been an exemption made with the Bureau with regards to specific criteria.
Must read and write in English
Must pass a background check from the Bureau of Child Care Licensing Must pass a basic physical Must pass a TB Screening
Must be able to move, bend and work on level with children.
Must be dependable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Qualified applicants must be ready to have fun, and enjoy working with children while being patient and calm.
Applicants will need to be understanding of the importance of early childhood learning. They must be willing and capable of learning new skills.
Ability to accurately track classroom numbers entering and exiting the playground, and note if a parent picks up or drops off a child while that class is on the playground.
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, abilities, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff including those with disabilities.
