Case Manager, Institute Discrimination and Harassment Response (IDHR)

Job Description

CASE MANAGER, Chancellor’s Office-Institute Discrimination and Harassment Response (IDHR), to assist with case management services for complaints of discrimination or harassment based on an individual’s race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, or national or ethnic origin involving any member of the MIT community.  Will conduct initial assessments of reported cases to determine resolution pathways; document reported allegations of discrimination or discriminatory harassment, including their resolution, and coordinate the resources needed for the implementation of supportive measures; collaborate on both strategic decision-making and daily operations of a centralized office committed to maintaining a campus climate that is equitable, safe, and welcoming.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree in a related field, e.g., student affairs, higher education administration, social work, and/or psychology; at least three years’ relevant professional experience in the areas of case management, civil rights compliance, and/or investigations; knowledge of Title IX and the Clery Act; experience exercising discretion, diplomacy, and sound judgment in rapidly changing circumstances; experience with change management; initiative; ability to independently organize, prioritize, and carry out detailed work under time constraints; track record of team building and engaging multiple key stakeholders to achieve objectives; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to cultivate partnerships in MIT’s diverse community of students/staff/faculty; comprehensive knowledge of civil rights issues, trends, legal obligations, and initiatives nationally and locally; and proficiency with Microsoft Office.  PREFERRED: master’s degree; background and training in conducting sensitive and confidential intake interviews, ideally in a higher education environment; familiarity with Institute policies/procedures; and experience developing systems and protocols to maintain organizational compliance.  Job #21888-8
