Job Description
As a college academic leader, the dean is accountable for ensuring quality and integrity of all academic functions of the Transportation, Construction, Manufacturing, Culinary, Land Surveying/Civil Engineering, and Water Environmental Treatment programs within SCTCC. This position provides academic leadership, coordinates the HLC accreditation process, works with assessment processes, explores new academic programs, and works with faculty to develop course schedules each academic term. The dean promotes direction and vision of academic excellence as supervisor of faculty in the respective programs and related ancillary staff to verse the instructional needs of students. The incumbent in this position works directly with the Vice President of Academic Affairs representing the college on designated planning committees such as program advisory, Higher Learning Commission, curriculum, policy, institutional effectiveness, and assessment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related field
- Teaching or training experience
- Leadership experience
- Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Demonstrated commitment to a culture of continuous improvement
- Excellent interpersonal communication, human relations, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Five years college-level classroom teaching experience
- Master’s degree
- Experience teaching at a two-year college
- Work experience in a union environment
- Previous experience as a Dean in a college or university
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college
- Collaborative leadership style
- Experience with a variety of pedagogical and technological educational delivery methods
