Consulting position for Acoustic Engineer Graduate Student or Postdoctoral Student

Location: Morsani Health

Organization: University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine

Work Days: Monday-Friday

Position Summary
Will be working on a large nationally-funded project to build a large multi-institutional and multimodal database of human voices linked to different diseases. The project involves 30 co-investigators from 10 different institutions across North America. At the USF site, we are looking for an acoustic engineer to help with audio quality standards development and quality control of our acoustic data.

Job Responsibilities

  • Participates in research meetings and provide written expertise on the data capturing tool development and data acquisition protocols.
  • Provides expert written documentation of the acoustic quality parameters to meet during data collection, including measures of sound sharpness, noise reduction, absence of clipping, frequency bandwidth and dynamic range.
  • Check random 50% sample of the acoustic data in the prospective database for quality measures and create a report.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in acoustic engineering or similar field
  • Master’s or PhD degree preferred
  • Experience recording techniques and equipment, compression techniques, and acoustic software analysis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong analytical and technical problem solving skills.
